Mentor Coaching
A requirement for ICF Credentialed Coaches
IIACHIEVE OR RENEW YOUR ACC OR PCC
The International Coach Federation, defines Mentor Coaching as, “as providing professional assistance in achieving and demonstrating the levels of coaching competency demanded by the desired credential level sought by a coach‐applicant (mentee). Furthermore, Mentor Coaching means an applicant (mentee) being coached on their coaching skills rather than coaching on practice building, life balance, or other topics unrelated to the development of an applicant’s coaching skill.”
Mentoring Coaching is not about ‘coaching’ coaches.
It’s an intuitive mix of teaching, guiding, directing and giving feedback and, of course, coaching. If I can help you improve your coaching with a technique or tool, I will share it with you. And then encourage to make it your own so we do not fall into the trap of formulaic coaching. If I sense there’s a limiting belief getting in the way of your coaching mastery, I will invite you to be coached around that. Beliefs like “I’ll never get this.” Or “I am not good enough” are often what challenges us in our learning process. They have us hesitate, reluctant to take risks, or be truly spontaneous in our coaching.
By addressing these beliefs and reframing such perspectives, we can more effectively integrate the learning required to be a credentialed coach. The result is what most coaches want: that seamless, flowing and powerful conversation that bring us our clients greatest potential.
Above all else, we are always working in partnership.

'Stop the Clock' technique to showcase ICF core competencies
In this 'Stop the Clock' coaching session Poyee Dorian (Coach) and I showcase the use of the ICF competencies during a practice coaching session.
The ICF competencies have been developed as a benchmark for quality and consistency across the knowledge and skill level for ICF certified coaches. They will be used as a resource for your coaching sessions, and a guide for providing feedback and observations.
Thank you so much for being such an integral part of my learning journey and I am forever grateful for that. I have learned so much about myself, my inner thoughts and my long-held beliefs. You have taught me how to challenge them and expose them in a curious, kind manner! It has made me a better person and a more skilled coach. I consider myself fortunate to be able to call you a teacher and mentor, both as an individual and a professional.
